Post Surgery Update
This past weekend, I officially hit 30 days post-op. I feel so much better now than I did before surgery. I still have a long way to go since I have a gene mutation that makes it very hard for my body to detox, but so far, I’m thrilled. I wake up now actually feeling like I’ve slept the night before, which really sets the tone of the day. The pain in my hands and throughout my body was gone right away. I can stand now without it feeling like I’m on a vibrating floor. Now that the pain in my chest has mostly subsided, I do feel lighter and feel like I can breathe better and deeper. Family and friends that I’ve seen since surgery tell me they can see a difference right away. I can see it reflected in their face as I walk up. They’re amazed...heck, I’m amazed.
I still have occasional migraines, but I have so many triggers, that doesn’t surprise me. Instead of a few migraines a week though, I have only had two in the last month, so I call that progress. While I am not exhausted all day long, I do get tired easily after physical activity, and physical activity can be as little as walking across the parking lot. I just remind myself that I’m not that far out from major surgery and my body is working hard to heal that trauma. It’s hard, though, to have energy again and held back from doing much with it.
I have a follow-up on Monday, and I’m really hoping to be told I can get into the swimming pool so I can enjoy the last bit of summer, and most importantly, I’m looking forward to being cleared for some real physical activity. I’m hoping to get started on strengthening areas like my neck and shoulders after years of being pulled forward by the implants. It will be a slow process to prevent injuries, but I am eager now that I have some energy back.
