The BII Movement

I have to admit. It burns me up when I see stories claiming that removing breast implants is a trend. I have dealt with people calling celiac disease a fad or a trend for years now.

Here’s the problem. A fad or a trend is temporary. They very simply aren’t taken serious. This leads to a casualness to the issue that can lead to unattended consequences.

Let’s look again at celiac disease real quick. I cannot have gluten, even little bits can cause issues for weeks after. Thankfully, it won’t cause anything like anaphylactic shock. It can cause immediate severe bowel issues for days or it may come on more quietly like a sleepy feeling and brain fog that last for weeks on end. When waiters or management (and even family member at home) think that having to have no gluten is a fad or a trend, then they don’t see it as a problem to make a mistake. To put that hamburger on the bun and then take it off after they look at the ticket one more time, only to serve me a contaminated burger that will make me sick. It’s no big deal though to them. It’s just a diet fad, the latest trend.

Back to implants.

If we go about this calling it a trend, then the community, doctors, and our loved ones will not take us serious. But it is serious. If a doctor isn’t willing to take BII seriously, then in their minds, it isn’t important to take the implants out en bloc (removal of implants in whole, unruptured) it isn’t important to them to get every part of the capsule out. And our loved ones won’t see the importance of getting them out for our health, leaving room for criticizing our need to spend the money to have them taken out.

This is not a trend. This is a movement.

It has been quietly building for years while the implant manufacturers have been allowed to make millions while they lie to consumers, ignore the government, and hide defects along the way.

We are tired of being lied to.

We are spreading the word ourselves since the government won’t stand up for us.

This is a movement to help ensure more women are not harmed by breast implants. To help doctors understand why it is so important to give us all the risks before sticking something foreign in our bodies that may forever alter our lives.
